Doncic already missed the Mavs' game against the Nuggets Friday because of a sore right ankle. He is currently listed as day-to-day.
The 19-year-old has played 55 of the Mavs' 57 games this season and has been a starter in all of them. He's currently averaging 20.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists a game this year.
Dallas has lost its last three games and is slowly sliding down into the Western Conference standings. The team is currently ranked 12th with a 26-32 record.
Dallas still has a slim chance of making the playoffs this season, but it will take a ton of effort from Doncic and the rest of the team to make that happen. Right now, they are just seven games behind the eighth-seeded L.A. Clippers, and winning most of their final 24 games could help them steal that spot away from the Clips.
It is highly likely that the team will miss the playoffs. Still, they have a very bright future ahead of them. Led by Doncic and a returning Kristaps Porzingis, next season is going to be interesting for the Mavs, as they could begin what's probably the post-Nowitzki era.
