The Dallas Mavericks will embark on a four-game road trip this Tuesday, but they'll be doing so without the services of guard Wesley Matthews, who injured his right leg in the first quarter of Saturday's 114-80 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. According to a report from Dwain Price of Mavs.com, the former Marquette Golden Eagle had an MRI on Monday, which revealed a stress fracture in his right leg. He will be out for the remainder of the season.
Rick Carlisle said guard Wesley Matthews (right leg injury) will not be going on the upcoming 4-game road trip to the Knicks, Raptors, Nets and Pelicans. Matthews said he'll have an MRI tomorrow.

The @dallasmavs said guard Wesley Matthews sustained a fracture to his right proximal fibula in the 1st quarter of Saturday's 114-80 win over Memphis. At this time, according to the Mavs, there is no timetable for Matthews' return.

Matthews, 31 years of age, took a hit to his knee, which later caused swelling. There was hope that he might be able to play in Sunday's game against the Houston Rockets, but he was ultimately a late scratch.

“It was pretty painful,” Matthews said. “There was a little swelling in it. I was ready to go (against Houston). But a couple of other opinions came in and we decided to get it looked at. We'll see what the MRI shows.
“We want to be smart about this,” Matthews continued. “I was out there in warmups, but they pulled me off the court.”
With Matthews out of the lineup for Dallas' road trip, as well as the rest of the season, players like Yogi Ferrell, Doug McDermott, J.J. Barea and Kyle Collinsworth will likely see their minutes increase.
Matthews has played in 63 games for the Mavs this season, averaging 12.7 points on 40.6 percent shooting from the field (38.1 percent from beyond the arc), 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
The Mavs — now the 4th-ranked team in the Southwest Division with a 21-46 overall record — will be back in action on Tuesday night, as they're scheduled to face the New Yorks Knicks inside Madison Square Garden.
