Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic gave Mavs fans an awful scare when he went down with an ankle injury on Saturday night against the Miami Heat.
While subsequent tests revealed that Doncic had only suffered a moderate ankle sprain, he was still expected to miss a couple weeks of action.
But Doncic was already on the court shooting jumpers prior to Dallas' matchup with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, which could mean that he is actually ahead of schedule.

Doncic suffered the injury within the first few minutes on Saturday night when he twisted his ankle trying to plant on a drive to the rim. The rather flukey nature of the way the play developed gave cause for concern, but the 20-year-old is showing encouraging signs.
Dallas could certainly use Doncic for this upcoming stretch. After hosting the Celtics, they have to go on the road to take on the Philadlephia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors in a tough Eastern Conference slate.
However, the Mavs did prove something to themselves in a sensational victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Aside from snapping Milwaukee's 18-game winning streak, they finally got a signature game from Kristaps Prozingis.
Porzingis poured in 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting (4-of-8 from beyond the arc) while adding 12 rebounds and four assists. Seth Curry added 26 points of his own off the bench, and six different Mavs players scored in double figures.
Perhaps Dallas can hold serve as they await Doncic's return. Needless to say, he is looking to get back on the floor as soon as possible.
