On Tuesday morning, the Dallas Mavericks finally pulled the plug on the Nico Harrison experiment, firing the general manager who infamously traded Luka Doncic nine months ago to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavericks have gotten off to a horrid start to this season, currently sitting at 3-8 with both Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving out of the lineup.

With the Harrison news now official, many are anticipating that more moves could be on the horizon for Chicago, including some potentially involving their roster.

Recently, Ricky O'Donnell of SB Nation proposed a trade that would send Anthony Davis and Brandon Williams to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Nikola Vucevic, Coby White, Jalen Smith, and two first round picks in the next two drafts.

“Here's my proposed Anthony Davis to the Bulls trade. I don't like it because I think AD is broken, but it's really only one real first + Coby to upgrade from Vooch to Davis. Maybe he'll go for more than this, but as noted in the piece, it's hard to find many suitors,” wrote O'Donnell on X, formerly Twitter.

An interesting idea for the Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have quickly fallen back down to Earth after their hot start, now losers of three straight games, but they have remained one of the early surprises of the 2025-26 NBA season, thanks in no small part to the play of Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, and other members of their young core.

If Anthony Davis were able to stay healthy in a Chicago uniform (which history indicates he would not), the Bulls could theoretically climb into quasi-contender status in the Eastern Conference, although they'd still likely be a couple of versatile wings away from truly being able to compete with teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers or New York Knicks.

In any case, it still remains to be seen whether or not the Mavericks will seriously entertain trading Davis or any of their other players amid their current turmoil.
