The Denver Nuggets got some good news on Tuesday, when power forward Paul Millsap finally had a cast removed from his wrist. It’s an encouraging sign for Millsap, who could possibly return to action at the All-Star Break, according to Gina Mizell of the Denver Post.

Millsap suffered left wrist injury back on Nov. 19, a 127-109 road loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, Millsap has not appeared in any games, as he had to undergo surgery to fix his ailing wrist. The projection then was that Millsap would miss several weeks or 2-3 months, which falls right around the time of the All-Star Break next month.
Despite not having Millsap for quite some time now, the Nuggets remain inside the playoff picture in the Western Conference. They are still in a precarious spot in the standings, but it’s safe to say that where they are currently is better than most people thought they would be in at this point of the season without Millsap.

Mason Plumlee and Trey Lyles have both done a decent job of being placeholders for Millsap. Plumlee is averaging 7.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Lyles has been even more impressive with outputs of 10.7 points and 4.9 rebounds, while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from behind the arc.
Nikola Jokic, meanwhile, has done most of the heavy lifting in the frontcourt for Denver with 15.9 points and 10.1 boards per contest.
Paul Millsap, who signed a two-year $61 million deal with Denver back in the offseason, was averaging 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game before sustaining the said wrist injury.
