The Denver Nuggets waived center Thomas Welsh on Tuesday, leaving a total of three roster spots up for grabs.
Welsh was selected by the Nuggets in the 2018 draft with the 58th pick. Denver signed the big man to a two-way contract, but he got little opportunity to play for the team. He made 11 appearances in Denver uniform, averaging 1.6 points and 0.5 assists in 3.3 minutes per game.
The Nuggets have waived two-way center Thomas Welsh, per a source. That leaves one open regular roster spots and two 2-way spots on Denver’s roster, with second-round pick Bol Bol still to sign.

Clearly, Welsh has had little impact on the NBA floor so far. However, the seven footer had plenty of success at the college level with UCLA.

Welsh spent all four years of his college career playing for the Bruins. He ended his four years with averages of 12.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 40.2 percent from beyond the arc. He is also UCLA's third all-time leading rebounder and was named the best center in Divison I men's college basketball his senior year.
Unfortunately for Welsh, the Nuggets already have plenty of center depth. Nikola Jokic is considered to be one of the best centers in the league, while Mason Plumlee has proven to be a reliable back up. Bol Bol is an intriguing prospect with a sky-high ceiling.
Welsh has a shot at making an NBA team before the season starts. A seven-footer with a reliable 3-pointer is always a useful weapon to have in today's league. We'll see if Welsh is on an NBA roster soon.
