The Detroit Pistons' 2018-19 season came to an early end on Monday. Their 127-104 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks completed the sweep and officially ended their postseason run.

Not much was expected from the eighth-seed Pistons. But with just their second postseason appearance in the past ten seasons, their season as a whole can only be considered a success.

On Tuesday, star Blake Griffin posted a thank-you message to Detroit fans on Instagram:

Griffin was an All-Star in his first full season with the Pistons. The forward scored a career-high 24.5 points, as well as 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists. At just 30 years old, the former Rookie of the Year has many more productive years ahead of him.

And luckily for Detroit fans, he will likely spend most of those seasons with the Pistons. He signed a five year, $170 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017, according to Spotrac. But six months later, the Clippers traded Griffin to the Pistons in exchange for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and two draft picks.

Griffin will be pivotal to Detroit's success going forward. The Eastern Conference is tough, and the Pistons will have some work to do this offseason to make some noise in 2019-20. They went just 41-41 in the regular season and only made the playoffs by two games. Detroit will need to make some big-time additions to turn into a true threat.

The Bucks won each of the four games of the first round match-up by at least 16 points.

In the second round, they will face the Boston Celtics, who swept the Indiana Pacers.
