The Atlanta Falcons had a good Sunday to punctuate their week, thanks to a 34-20 win at home over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But it was an even better day for Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who finished the game with monster numbers of 12 receptions on 15 targets and 253 receiving yards topped with two touchdowns.

With his fantastic performance, Jones became the owner of the most receiving yards by any player in NFL history in his first 90 career games. Overall, Jones has 8,649 yards via air, surpassing previous record holder and Hall of Famer, Lance Alworth.

That’s not the only record Jones broke, as the 28-year-old wideout also surpassed Anquan Boldin for most receptions for an NFL player also in his first 90 games. In addition, he became the first player ever to have three games with at least 250 receiving yards in his career.

Basically, the gifted receiver is hitting the stage in his career when he can start bashing records, and that is exactly what he has begun doing.

Jones’ explosion was a great reminder to everyone that he remains one of the best in his position today, which some people tend to forget due to his inconsistent play at points this season. Prior to Sunday’s game, Jones only had a touchdown and two games in which he had at least 100 receiving yards this season.

Counting his numbers last Sunday, Jones now has 748 receiving yards on 54 catches this year.

If nothing else, Jones will provide Atlanta a scary threat as long as he is healthy over the next few years.
