He may have only announced his decision to join the Golden State Warriors last July, but the team's former center, Andrew Bogut, believes Kevin Durant already knew where he'd take his talents long before the summer started.
In a Q&A with ESPN's Tim McMahon, the 7-foot Australian discussed how he already anticipated KD to choose the Warriors over the other teams that tried to sign him. He also made it clear that he has no ill-feelings towards the organization and understands that it was simply a business decision to sign Durant and not retain his services.
“That's part of the business. I think the deal was done long before the summer. I think it was done – obviously, KD didn't make his concrete decision, but I think our organization knew for a while what was going to happen. That's just a part of it. Andre [Iguodala] and I knew it was one of us that was going to go, and it was me. That's part of the business. I have no gripes about it. You get a Hall of Famer — he's going to be a Hall of Famer – in KD. If I'm the GM, I do the same deal. That's just the reality of the business.”

Whether what Bogut said was true or not, Golden State still went through the process of pitching their case to the 2014 MVP. Like most teams, their representatives traveled to The Hamptons after setting up a meeting with Durant.
After he made his decision, they did their work to make Durant fit on the team. The franchise had to make some moves in order fit the four-time scoring champion's salary under their cap, which was not an easy task.
Still, what Bogut said is very intriguing and will only make conspiracy theorists think that this was planned all along.
