Kevin Durant‘s decision to join Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson with the Golden State Warriors has undoubtedly shifted the landscape of the NBA. With the three best outside shooters in the game today, the Dubs are primed to become the league's next great dynasty.
The reaction around the league has been mixed. Many players were stunned, executives were more upset that guys signed with G.S. below their market value (like Zaza Pachulia) rather than KD's choice, and commissioner Adam Silver was less than pleased.
When asked about Durant joining the Warriors, Silver was concise with his remarks:
“Just to be absolutely clear, I do not think that's ideal from a league standpoint.”
However, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban looks at the situation differently. In his mind, Durant becoming a Warrior is good for the league business-wise. He believes that having two MVPs as well as All-Stars in Thompson and Draymond Green on the same team will increase general fan-interest.

“They become the villain,” Cuban told ESPN on Wednesday, a day after Silver indicated that changes in the collective bargaining agreement are needed to prevent similar situations from developing in the future. “Just like when LeBron James went to Miami, I loved that there was a villain. They become the villain. I'm fine with that. Everybody's going to root for them to lose.”
It will be interesting to see how exactly fans around the league react when the Warriors come into their home arenas this coming season. People were captivated by the 2015-16 edition of the Dubs, but this next one should expect a much different reception from opposing crowds, despite their likely prowess.
