After playing for the San Antonio Spurs last year, David West may be familiar with some of their players and the plays they run. Mike Brown believes that's the case, and knows that it gives them an advantage, now that he is part of their fold.
According to the 47-year-old acting head coach, West has been helping their coaching staff scout the Spurs throughout the season, and added that he's had a lot of input on how to play better against them. He said he is very “helpful” to the them, which could be a big factor during their Western Conference Semifinals matchup.
Mike Brown told Bay Area reporters David West has been "really helpful…had a lot of input" whenever Warriors faced #Spurs this season.

Brown may be receiving a lot of tips from him, however, with some new players in the Spurs' lineup since West's departure from the San Antonio, his knowledge with their plays could also be outdated by now to some extent. Gregg Popovich is also a very good coach, and he understands the need to come up with new offensive and defensive sets to avoid becoming predictable.
It remains to be seen if the Warriors will have an obvious advantage when defending the West's second seeded team, but with how they have been dominant in this year's playoffs, one thing that's certain is West and company will be heavily favored to advance and compete for the title in the NBA Finals.
