As if the heralded Golden State Warriors needed more help heading into the 2020-21 campaign, the Western Conference franchise selected former Memphis Tigers big man James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
With Wiseman now on board alongside the likes of point guard Stephen Curry, forward Draymond Green and swingman Andrew Wiggins, it appears as though the soon-to-be rookie is fitting right in with the Warriors.
According to head coach Steve Kerr, Wiseman has been energetic and just all-around impressive as a result of his first few practices atop the highest level.

Steve Kerr on James Wiseman's first Warriors practice: "He was playing with huge energy — flying around everywhere. A couple guys came off the floor and just shook their heads like, 'Man. This guy is massive.' "

After quite the run atop the West, which saw Golden State reach five consecutive NBA Finals, the Warriors encountered a bit of bad luck in 2019-20. With nearly the entire team suffering from some lingering injury a season ago, the Dubs will be looking to rebound in a big way in 2020-21–though the franchise's forgettable campaign in 2019-20 did lead to the eventual acquisition of Wiseman.
Of course, the Warriors are known for their guards and shooting prowess, with the aforementioned Green regularly patrolling the interior. However, the addition of James Wiseman now gives this already start-studded team a legitimate presence in the middle at the center position. Although the first-year big man will need to become acclimated to the speed and talent level of the NBA after only a brief collegiate tenure at Memphis, it is entirely possible that he makes an immense impact for the Dubs as a rookie in 2020-21.
