Golden State Warriors small forward Kevin Durant has captured his second straight championship as well as the NBA Finals MVP. Yet, all he can think about is getting back onto the court.

Durant has accomplished a lot over the last several years. However, according to Ben Golliver of si.com, he feels there is still much more left in the tank:

“I feel indebted to the game. It saved my life, changed my life. I thought I would live in Maryland my whole life… I'm just forever grateful. Championships and stuff means a lot, but picking up a basketball changed my family's life. This is the cherry on top.”

It goes without saying that Durant endured his fair share of trials and tribulations throughout his life en route to making it to the NBA. His struggles carried over into his professional career due to his inability to win a championship which was followed by his decision to join the Warriors.

Since then, he has proved to be the most vital piece in the NBA's next great dynasty. This year's outcome just solidified that notion. However, it appears Durant may be somewhat aware that he still has something to prove.

The star forward has taken plenty of flak for essentially taking the easy route by joining a championship-caliber team. Despite his recent accolades, his tenure with Golden State will forever be criticised by the masses. That is unless he can manage to win somewhere else.

Durant has been adamant about accepting his player option to remain with the Warriors next season. However, it will be interesting to see if he ever attempts to cement his legacy by someday taking down the very team that he secured a dynasty with.
