The Memphis Grizzlies have the odds stacked against them heading into their matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs are coming off a nail-biting loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, but they also earned some valuable lessons in preparation for their tilt with Memphis.

Head coach Steve Kerr talked about the Warriors' critical takeaway from their latest defeat, via 95.7 The Game's “Damon, Ratto, and Kolsky.”

“The one thing that applies is just the size and physicality of both teams, it’s very similar. It’s a similar mindset going into the game, we call it a ‘paint game.'

So the fact that the teams are relatively similar is helpful. It might be a little different if we were playing a Mike D’Antoni team that shoots 60 threes. That’s a radical turnaround. In this case, I think it’s helpful to be facing a team that’s stylistically pretty similar to the Lakers.”

The Lakers boast of a menacing frontline featuring Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond. While the Grizzlies do not have the same caliber of players up front, Jonas Valanciunas will still pose a severe problem for the Warriors.

Draymond Green will be placed with a hefty amount of responsibility in trying to contain the Grizzlies. He won't be forming a wall against Valanciunas and Co. Instead, the do-it-all forward will have to keep the Warriors' defense on a string with his basketball IQ and leadership.

There's a good reason why Green is a finalist for this year's Defensive Player of the Year award. Also, it doesn't hurt to have 2020-21 Most Valuable Player finalist Stephen Curry on the side.
