There is no doubt that behind Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors have become one of the most successful and dominant teams in the NBA. They have won three of the last four NBA championships and are primed to win their third straight title by season's end.

Curry is still considered as the heart and soul of the Warriors, even with fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson or reigning Finals MVP Kevin Durant on the team. He understands the pressure coming from the fans and the media, who constantly demand him to help bring a championships to Golden State.

In an interview with San Francisco Chronicles' Rusty Simmons, Curry said that he knows he still has a chip on his shoulder, and despite the team's success over the years, it has never gone anywhere.

“That chip on my shoulder has never gone anywhere,” he said. “My work ethic had to become my biggest strength, always trying to find something to add to my game and get more refined. I knew nothing was going to be given to me, in terms of just being able to walk on the floor and be the best player, and that helped shape my perspective and created an edge throughout my journey.”

Stephen Curry knows that despite what he's been able to accomplish, he still has a lot of doubters out there. They have been present since he started playing basketball, but the two-time MVP wants to continue to prove them wrong.

“Now, I have my own standards and expectations for myself, but I can be petty. There are people I remember that said something when I was in high school or coming out of college into the draft. There are a lot of people with platforms and microphones, who were talking about my game and what I wasn’t going to be that drove me from time to time. But the daily motivation now comes from feeling like I haven’t met my full potential yet.”

Moreover, Curry also believes he has a lot to prove, and that is his motivation — not because he wants to silence his critics but because he wants to exceed his own expectations.

The pressure of achieving a three-peat doesn't seem to bother Steph though, as he is just enjoying the journey in helping the Warriors become the kings of basketball anew.
