An ill-fitting tape job had Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry headed back to the locker room in the first quarter of Friday's highly-anticipated matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
Curry, however, would quickly return. And with 7:14 left in the third quarter, he'd snatch a defensive rebound out of the lane, lightly hop…and fire a full-court, overhead pass to a streaking Draymond Green for an easy layup and a 67-63 lead against the Nuggets.
Touchdown, Warriors!

It was Green's only basket through the first three quarters, where he instead had a 15 assists and nine rebounds before the final frame: both game-highs.

Curry, on a torrid April pace and chasing Denver center Nikola Jokic for 2021 NBA Kia MVP honors, had 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and was a floor-best plus-16 in 29 minutes — and with the fourth quarter still to go.
Typically, this relationship is the other way around. Green has long been noted as one of the key ingredients in Curry's sensational pick-and-roll playstyle — often drifting behind his longtime power and point forward as an off-screen shooter or trailer.
This time around, though, Curry simply rewarded Green for his hustle behind the Denver defense, leading to the easy touchdown behind the secondary.
It's the pass is the kind of transition basketball the Warriors are going to need to keep playing through the remainder of the 2021 regular season and NBA playoffs, if Curry and company want any chance at sustaining a deep run. Per nba.com, Golden State is eighth in the league in transition possessions (18.6), eighth in frequency (16.6 percent) and ninth in transition points (20.7) per game.
