Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was quick to respond to criticisms surrounding their minutes restriction for superstar point guard Stephen Curry.
According to Kerr, he isn't always going to make the right decision along the sidelines, but he emphasized he will continue to put the Warriors in the best position possible to win games in 2020-21.
“Not really,” Steve Kerr recently told reporters in regards to Stephen Curry's minutes with the Warriors this season, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “Not in today's world. That's kind of the nature of the beast. Everything's going to be amplified because of social media. To be honest, I'm just happy our fans care so much that they're engaged. That's what we want in sports. We want our fans to be really passionate. We ask that of them. We try to give them a product that will make them passionate about our team and I think we have a really good … following and energy with our fan base.”

Prior to Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, Curry was averaging 33.8 minutes per contest this season–a mark that is just below his career average of 34.3 minutes. However, the majority of the criticisms geared toward Kerr stems from the fact that Curry has been playing less down the stretch and late in games, though the Warriors head coach isn't quite ready to “chase wins” if it means playing his superstar shooter more than 40 minutes per night.
“I'm not going to always make the right, perfect decision or our players aren't always going to make the great play or right play,” Kerr added. “We're all going to make mistakes. A big part of our job, players, coaches, management is just understanding that the talk and chatter is all part of the process and in the end, it's really a good thing. Better than nobody watching.”
Before taking the Spurs, Kerr's Warriors were sporting an even 12-12 record in the Western Conference. With the said win-loss tally, the Dubs are in the ninth seed in standings, well within striking distance for a playoff spot.
