Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was in foul trouble in Game 1 against the Houston Rockets. Head coach Steve Kerr shared a story where Curry was in the same predicament and tried to implement a radical solution.
Per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post, Kerr said that when they were in Los Angeles, Kerr asked Curry where his mom was seated right after the sharpshooting guard picked up his fourth foul. Then, Kerr looked at her and tried his best to make her influence the game.
“I made eye contact with Sonya and said, ‘Tell him not to foul him any more.' If his mom can't get through to him, I'm definitely not going to get through to him. Maybe I should try dad this time.”

In Game 1 of the Western Semifinals, Curry committed a total of five fouls. As expected, it was a physical game throughout. Curry, who averages just 2.4 personal fouls in the regular season and 3.5 personal fouls this postseason, struggled to find the balance between playing aggressive and not fouling. It will be a tall order since he was the Rockets often switched him to James Harden — one of the best in the game at drawing fouls.
Despite this, the Warriors still got the win 104-100. Curry crawled his way to 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-10 from downtown. Knowing Curry, expect him to play better come Game 2.
