The Golden State Warriors have the second overall pick in the 2020 draft and many pundits believe the franchise will take Memphis big man James Wiseman if the team keeps the pick.

However, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors taking Deni Avdija out of Israel is certainly in play.

Letourneau reports the Warriors have flown to Israel in recent years to watch Avdija play with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

“Personally, I'm not totally sure why Deni isn't being mentioned with LaMelo [Ball], [James] Wiseman and [Anthony] Edwards as a possibility at No. 1,” an anonymous scout told Letourneau.

“He has a proven track record against elite competition, and he has all the intangibles to become a great player in this league for a long, long time.”

The Warriors had the worst record in the NBA in 2019-20 before games were suspended in March due to COVID-19. Superstar point guard Stephen Curry only played in five games due to a broken left hand and All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson missed the entire campaign recovering from his ACL tear.

However, the Warriors are expected to make a playoff comeback in 2021. Curry and Thompson will return in the backcourt together to shoot the lights out of the ball, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will be manning the wing and frontcourt spots, and Golden State can either draft James Wiseman or Deni Avdija with the second overall pick or trade it for a star player.

It's going to be fascinating to see what the Warriors do with the second pick.
