Stephen Curry isn't about that load management life.
At Warriors Media Day on Monday, the Golden State Warriors superstar said he plans to play “48 minutes a game for all 82,” according to Logan Murdock of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Obviously, that isn't going to happen. First of all, Curry has never played all 82 games in a season. Second, he has never played 40 minutes per game. But, this does demonstrate just how Curry feels about decreasing his workload, and Warriors president Bob Myers also said there are no plans for load management.
Curry is coming off a 2018-19 campaign in which he played 69 games, averaging 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals over 33.8 minutes per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the floor, 43.7 percent from 3-point range and 91.6 percent from the free-throw line en route to his sixth straight All-Star appearance.
Article Continues BelowTo be fair to Curry, there is logic behind the idea of increasing his minutes this coming season, as Kevin Durant is no longer a member of the Warriors, and Klay Thompson will miss a significant chunk of the year as he recovers from a torn ACL.
In addition, Golden State also lost key members like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston this summer, so there does seem to be a good reasoning for Curry to play more.
But all 82 games? That almost certainly isn't going to happen, and seeing that he has not played 35 minutes per game since the 2013-14 campaign and has never done it under Steve Kerr, it remains to be seen if Curry will even play that much.
The 31-year-old owns career averages of 23.5 points and 6.6 assists over 34.4 minutes per game.
