After seeing his fellow MVP favorite, Russell Westbrook, strengthen his case to win the award by breaking the record for most triple-doubles in a season, James Harden also made history of his own on Wednesday night.
The Houston Rockets guard finished their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a triple-double, and with his 11th assist of the night, became the first player in NBA history to record at least 2,000 points, 900 assists and 600 rebounds in a single season.

Harden is ranked second in scoring with 29.1 points, to go along with 8.1 rebounds and a league-leading 11.2 assists in 36.4 minutes per game. He has also been one of the key reasons why the Rockets have been able to secure the third seed in the tough Western Conference. It has been more impressive given the number of contenders there are in their conference, and that they were able to do it unexpectedly.
With the playoffs starting this weekend, the Rockets will be at full strength and some of their players have also been given additional rest, which makes them a very difficult team to beat. Harden can be expected to once again lead the charge for his team, like what he has done all season long, and will further prove himself as one of the best all around players in the league today.
