The Houston Rockets had one of the worst starts to their season in the history of the NBA, dropping 16 of their first 17 games. They then followed that up with a six game winning streak after defeating the New Orleans Pelicans Sunday. In doing so, they made history that has never been done before and probably never will again.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Rockets are the first team in major North American sports history (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) to follow up a 15 game losing streak with a six game winning streak. It is so improbable and was completely unpredictable.
Following Sunday's win, the Rockets are 7-16 and are suddenly only 3.5 games behind the Portland Trailblazers for the #10 seed and final spot in the play-in tournament.

Christian Wood and Eric Gordon led the way for the Rockets Sunday, each scoring 23 points. Houston got a balance effort with 10 players getting on the score sheet. The Rockets were able to overcome a season high 40 points from Brandon Ingram.
The winning streak has obviously come out of nowhere, but hasn't been against the strongest competition. They beat the Chicago Bulls back on November 24th. That's a legit victory over a good team. But the five games they have won since were against Charlotte, Oklahoma City twice, Orlando and now New Orleans.
Wednesday night the Rockets will continue their four game home stand against a formidable opponent, the Brooklyn Nets. They will then finish the home stand vs the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks. But even if they come back to Earth the next few days, this piece of history can never be taken away from this team.
