The Houston Rockets have made a new offer to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jimmy Butler, which includes four first round picks, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
ESPN's Zach Lowe explains why Butler could be traded to Houston on Halloween.
A key date in Houston's pursuit of Butler could be next Wednesday, Oct. 31, league sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe. That is the two-month anniversary of their acquisition of Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss from Phoenix, at which point Houston can aggregate one or both of their salaries into trade packages.
Knight and Chriss cannot be traded until next week. Those are two young players who could go to Minnesota in any Jimmy Butler trade. Or, one of them could go to a third team if a third team is in the deal.
Due to the restriction on these two, no deal can take place at this time. It will be interesting to see if a deal with Houston ever transpires. This could also be an attempt to bring the Miami Heat back into a deal with Butler. They've been rumored to have been close to a deal for Butler until it fell apart due to Minnesota's late trade demands.
It will be interesting to see if things start to heat up between Minnesota and Houston between now and next Wednesday. This rumor that leaked could also be pressure to a team to up their respective offer.

Knight and Chriss would almost certainly be involved in this trade, but it is not known who else would be.
Discussions on the players involved in the Minnesota-Houston talks remain fluid, league sources said.
We are in a wait and see mode between both of these teams.
Will Minnesota change their stance on the Jimmy Butler situation? Time will tell.
