The Indiana Pacers are set to hire longtime WNBA executive Kelly Krauskopf, who will become the first female assistant general manager in NBA history, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Krauskopf will join president Kevin Pritchard, general manager Chad Buchanan and assistant GM Peter Dinwiddie in the front office.

The historical aspect of women as leaders in operations is brief, but expanding. Major League Baseball has had two women assistant GMs, including current New York Yankees executive Jean Afterman and former Los Angeles Dodgers executive Kim Ng.

Krauskopf will become the first one to hold the title of assistant GM at the NBA level after being the president and general manager of the WNBA's Indiana Fever for 17 years until she transitioned as an overseer of the Pacers' new esports entry in the NBA 2K League.

She also has had a major role with the USA Basketball women's national team, taking part in the selection process on three gold-medal winning Olympic teams.

Krauskopf will relinquish all of her non-NBA duties to take this new assistant GM role head-on, trail-blazing her way into this new position with the Pacers and paving the road for up-and-coming women in the NBA who aspire to front-office positions in the future.
