According to The Vertical's Shams Charania, the ndiana Pacers are in advanced discussions with former Chicago Bulls free-agent guard Aaron Brooks. They're aiming for a one-year deal for an amount not yet disclosed.
Brooks spent the better part of the past two seasons as a backup to Derrick Rose, averaging 7.1 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game.
The idea is for Brooks to play backup for newly acquired All-Star point guard Jeff Teague. With Brooks, the team feels they'll have the perfect fit to keep the offense moving at a fast pace.
At 31 years old, this will be Brooks' ninth season in the NBA and his sixth team overall. Brooks career average is 10.7 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 rebounds, so he will provide some consistency for the second unit should he sign with Indiana.
