In the Christmas Day matchup between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers at legendary Madison Square Garden, center Enes Kanter surely had his best effort in a Knicks uniform. Unfortunately for Kanter and his teammates, it wasn't nearly enough as the Knicks were edged 105-98 by the Sixers on Monday afternoon.

In 36 minutes of action, Kanter was the game's leading scorer with 31 points on an impressive 12-of-21 shots from the field and a monstrous 22 rebounds.

However, according to reporter Ian Begley of ESPN following the game, it sounds like Kanter could really care less about his numbers when they come in a losing effort.

“It's always a good thing but, I mean, people are texting my phone saying congrats and whatever, I'm probably not going to text most of them back because who cares if I get 50 points, 50 rebounds? The state, the whole New York State, they want to see the playoffs,” Kanter said after the game. “If my numbers aren't gonna put us in the playoffs, it don't mean anything.”

As the legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi once said, winning is pretty much everything.

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”

Kanter and the Knicks (17-16) will look to string some wins together when they visit the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night at United Center.
