The Los Angeles Lakers did not exactly end the preseason with a bang, as they suffered a 124-103 defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors. Even more disappointing is the fact that incoming third-year point guard Alex Caruso has reportedly suffered an injury in the team's preseason finale.
Alex Caruso has a bone contusion, pelvis; X-rays were negative. He will not return tonight, and will undergo additional testing when the team returns to L.A.

The silver lining here is that the injury does not appear to be serious. As reported by team insider Mike Trudell, further testing will be made on Caruso, so we should expect a substantial update from the team within the next couple of days.
Caruso started at point guard against the Dubs, but would only last for three minutes before needing to exit the game. The 25-year-old finished with two points, two assists, and two turnovers during his brief time on the floor.

Notably, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee, and Dwight Howard — among others — all sat out this game for rest purposes. Kyle Kuzma still remains on the sidelines as he nurses his foot injury.
In his second year for the Lakers last season, Caruso averaged 9.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.0 steals, while also connecting on 1.0 three-pointers per game on an impressive 48.0-percent clip. This season, Caruso is expected to serve as the backup to starting point guard Rajon Rondo.
Hopefully, Caruso's injury proves to be nothing more than a minor bump. However, if he does end up missing time.
Lakers newcomer Quinn Cook should be the next man up, as the former Warrior will be expected to soak up the backup PG minutes in Caruso's stead.
