Following last year's All-Star break, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton experimented with different lineups in preparation for the 2017-18 NBA season. One intriguing lineup featured Julius Randle at center, Larry Nance Jr. at power forward, and Brandon Ingram at small forward in the frontcourt.

Although the Lakers acquired Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets to begin the offseason, there will be situations when Walton wants to change the pace with a small-ball lineup. According to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints, Ingram discussed playing with Randle and Nance Jr. to begin training camp:

During the offseason, the three players improved their respective games and it will be interesting to how they compliment each other on the court. Randle completely transformed his body and the expectation is he will be able to play at a high level for longer stretches of time. As for Ingram and Nance Jr., both have improved their shooting.

Heading into the new season, there is a new level of optimism with President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka in charge. With a new culture being established, the hope is their play on the court will help make Los Angeles a free agent destination once again.
