Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram was in a bit of a slump recently after a three-game stretch where he put up just 24 combined points on 7-of-27 shooting. However, he broke out of that mini-slump in spectacular fashion with a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds in 40 minutes in a losing effort against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Lakers head coach Luke Walton reiterated post-game that he isn’t concerned with Ingram’s play because he sees the work and effort he puts in.

“It is like I said before the game, we are not concerned with Brandon [Ingram]. He puts in his work every day and he is going to have good days and bad days and tonight was a very good day for him.”

While Ingram has still been prone to bouts of inconsistency, that’s not out of the ordinary for someone just in his second year and is only 20 years old. And as he showed against the Sixers, when he’s on, he looks a lot like the player the Lakers envisioned when they drafted him No. 2 overall in the 2016 draft.

Given his consistently strong work ethic, it should just be a matter of time before Ingram gains the experience needed to play with a lot more consistency.
