The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in convincing fashion on Wednesday night at the Staples Center. Despite a quick start to the game for Los Angeles in the first quarter, the Thunder countered with a vengeance as they thrashed the Lakers in the final three quarters en route to a 37-point blowout.
Of course, heading into the game all the talk was about Thunder forward Paul George and the possibility the Los Angeles native could be playing in purple and gold next season. George spoke to the media after dropping a game-high 24 points on his hometown team and shared his thoughts on this young Lakers team with an emphasis on Lonzo Ball's impact and absence.
“One of their best players was out tonight,” George said of the Lakers. “Lonzo [Ball] is really the engine. The way they came out and played, I suspect, that's the way that they're used to with Lonzo playing the point. Just playing fast. High-paced. High energy.
“It's what you'd expect from a young team. They're going to have their bruises. They're going to have their wounds. The best thing is they have young guys that are going to potentially be big names in this league. They just have to continue to working and fine-tuning themselves, but they got good young talent.”

George joins LeBron James as one of the star players around the league that has had nothing but high praise for the rookie point guard this season. If the rumors turn out to be true, George could be playing alongside both players next season.
Ball missed the season's first of four matchups with the Thunder due to a shoulder sprain he's been battling. The rookie guard has missed the last five games for the Lakers which have all resulted in losses for Los Angeles.
The 20-year-old is expected to be back on the floor for the Lakers on Friday when they host Dwight Howard's Charlotte Hornets.
