At the 2017 NBA Draft, all the attention was on the Los Angeles Lakers selecting Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick. However, Kyle Kuzma, who was the team's 27th overall pick, has stolen the headlines with his performances at the Las Vegas Summer League and preseason.

After winning the Summer League championship Most Valuable Player award, Kuzma is averaging 19.2 points on 56.2 percent shooting along with 4.0 rebounds through five preseason games. As a result, Trevor Booker made a bold prediction about Kuzma and Ball on Twitter:

While some will say it was only Summer League and preseason, Kuzma's shooting touch, high basketball IQ, and competitiveness are some of the qualities that will translate over once the 2017-18 NBA season officially begins. Although there were some questions if the rookie would be a part of head coach Luke Walton's rotation, the Lakers have a good problem trying to find minutes for him in a crowded frontcourt of Brook Lopez, Ivica Zubac, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., and Brandon Ingram.

At this time, Kuzma is already considered the steal of the draft. While it will take a couple seasons to see if Booker's prediction is correct, the Lakers have done a phenomenal job of drafting players with their late first to early second round picks during their rebuilding process.
