Lou Williams is in the midst of his 15th season in the NBA. Through that span, he has suited up for a myriad of organizations and filled multiple roles. Yet it seems that Williams, at age 33, is enjoying something mirroring the prime of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers. According to head coach Doc Rivers, that almost wasn't the case when the three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year came aboard back in 2017.

“He came in the day before camp and the rest of the team had been there for 30 days,” Rivers said, per Mirjam Swanson of the Orange County Register. “In his defense, he’d been traded, what, four years straight at that point and probably didn’t believe that we had any interest in keeping him around. So I just thought we needed to have a good talk, and I thought we both needed to prove something to each other. It was a two-way thing … we just talked and said, ‘You prove it, I prove it,’ and if we can get to a trust point, then we can get to a great spot.”

Since his arrival, Williams has yet to average fewer than 20 points per game in a season. A vast majority of the faces that surrounded Rivers and Williams in 2017 have departed from the franchise, yet they both remain with their eyes set on winning a championship in '19-20.

Williams may have spent the first seven years of his career in Philadelphia, but it almost feels as if his legacy has been anchored to Los Angeles.
