The Los Angeles Clippers sent members of their organization to watch Kawhi Leonard play multiple times last season with the Toronto Raptors.
During his free-agent meeting, the Clippers talked to Leonard about what they saw when watching him play. Leonard admits it was pretty cool to hear that:
Article Continues Below“You know just showing, talking to me about the games they came and watched me play,” Leonard told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “Little things like that, seeing what I thought at these certain moments when I thought that nobody was watching. It just made me realize like wow, they really were watching me and wanted me to come and play for the organization.”
The Clippers weren't shy at all about their infatuation for Kawhi Leonard. From sending people to watch him play to head coach Doc Rivers getting fined for calling him the modern-day Michael Jordan, the Clippers were going to do whatever it took to let Leonard know they really wanted him to play for their organization.
Everything worked out in the end. Leonard signed a three-year deal with the Clippers and brought Paul George with him as well.
Now the real work begins. With Leonard and George in the fold, the Clippers have their eyes set on winning a championship.
