Paul George is back home — set to play for the Los Angeles Clippers — and he can't ask for a better situation than this.

George called returning to his hometown “surreal,” pointing out that he always wanted to “get back home” and play for the home crowd. The 29-year-old All-Star was born and raised in Palmdale in Los Angeles, California.

“The fact that I'm unpacking instead of packing at this time is surreal,” George said during the Clippers' media day, per Tomer Azarly of Clutchpoints. “Every day i'm taking that drive on the 405, it's a surreal moment. Ultimately what I wanted to get to is to get back home.”

George requested a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason in order to pair up with two-time NBA champion Kawhi Leonard on the Clippers. The Clips had to give up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and a massive haul of future picks in order to bring the six-time NBA All-Star back to the City of Angels.

Interestingly, George had the chance to return home during his free agency in the summer of 2018. However, instead of joining LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, PG13 opted to re-sign with the Thunder on a four-year, $137 million deal.

Ultimately, the allure of playing at home was just too hard to resist for George.
