The L.A. Clippers are in rebuilding mode after trading away their centerpiece player Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons. The question now in everyone’s minds is, “What do the Clippers plan to do with DeAndre Jordan?”
Clippers beat reporter Brad Turner of the L.A. Times believes that the team is still looking to re-sign Jordan or trade him for picks.
“Clippers will not just give DeAndre Jordan away. Will seek picks or try to work out contract extension that has gone no where lately. Clippers only offered 2 year extension to DJ, partially guarantee in second year, per source.”
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski concurs, adding that young players are also in play in exchange for Jordan and/or Lou Williams.

“Sources: Clippers will continue to pursue packages of young players and picks in talks for DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams.”
Jordan has been in trade rumors for several weeks with the Cleveland Cavaliers among those reportedly interested in the center. However, it is unlikely that the Clippers are interested in Tristan Thompson, supposedly the key piece in that deal, as he is in the middle of a huge five-year contract and will not be eligible to become a free agent until 2020.
With the Clippers looking for youth and draft picks, Jordan may be traded elsewhere unless the Cavs are willing to give up the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first round pick they acquired in the Kyrie Irving trade. That is perhaps the only trading piece that the Clippers could covet from anything that the Cavs have to offer.
Jordan is averaging 11.9 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game this season, and would be the type of player that the Cavs are looking for to shore up their defensive woes.
