The L.A. Clippers brought their A-game Monday night and took care of business against the Los Angeles Lakers. Patrick Beverley, in particular, didn't back down from taking on Lakers superstar LeBron James on defense.

Reporters asked Beverley what he looks forward to when facing someone like James and a team like the Lakers. The scrappy defensive guard didn't want any of it and immediately dismissed the question, saying that this was about them getting better as a basketball team.

Beverley was really hyped after their huge 113-105 victory over the Lakers. And he should be. He was one of the main catalysts for their win, finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.

Beverley set the tone for the Clippers defensively, especially on LeBron James. In fact, he reportedly even asked the coaches to put him on the 250-pound L-Train.

The scrappy guard used his intensity to disrupt James and frustrated the three-time champion early on. It certainly looked like he played with a chip on his shoulder and wanted to prove something, especially against the Lakers.

The former second-round pick made a bold statement prior to the start of the season and said that the Clippers were the better team in Los Angeles. And so far this season, they have been.

Not only do they have a better record than the Purple and Gold but they also have a 2-1 advantage in the season series. The Clippers are also still well within the playoff picture at seventh in the West, while the Lakers are steering further away with every defeat.
