The entire basketball world was left wondering why it was taking too long for Kawhi Leonard to make his decision. As it turns out, Leonard was just doing some work behind the scene to make sure that he will play with another superstar next season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Leonard convinced Paul George to find a way to move to the Los Angeles Clippers, where they could team up together. George then reached out to the Oklahoma City Thunder and requested a trade.
OKC was then left “with no choice” but to grant the wish of the superstar forward.

The Thunder sent George to the Clippers for a massive haul of draft picks. Oklahoma City will get four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick, and two pick swaps in the next several years. Aside from the picks, the Thunder also got incoming second-year guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and veteran forward Danilo Gallinari.

Paul George will be joining Kawhi Leonard in what is brewing as a heated rivalry between the two Los Angeles teams. The Lakers will parade a roster featuring LeBron James and Anthony Davis next season. Danny Green opted to end his partnership with Leonard and is now set to join the Purple and Gold to support the James-Davis superstar tandem.
