The Los Angeles Clippers have had a steady stream of success over the past couple of years, and now that they're owned by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, they'll look to continue that success in a potentially new arena.

According to Kevin Arnovitz of ESPN, the Clippers have begun to look for new arenas in the Los Angeles area as their lease at Staples Center gets closer to its end in 2024.

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has begun to explore potential sites for a new Clippers arena, multiple NBA sources said.

The Clippers would neither confirm nor deny they are actively searching for a location, but one NBA source said that an area that piques the franchise's interest is Los Angeles' west side.

A new facility owned and operated by the team would afford the Clippers greater power to maximize earning opportunities, from sponsorship to licensing fees. As the owner of Staples Center, AEG retains control over naming rights, the business operations of running the facility for events and other substantial revenue streams like concessions.

Arnovitz cites a couple of reasons why the Clippers could look to move out of Staples Center.

Dan Woike of the Orange Country Register reports that the Orange County area isn't a likely landing spot for the team if they move.

And if anyone's wondering if the Clippers are planning to move to another state, don't get your hopes up. At the Geekwise Sports Tech Summit a couple weeks ago, owner Steve Ballmer made it a point to note that he has no plans of trying to relocate the Clippers outside of Los Angeles.

“The Clippers are not going anywhere, ever,” Ballmer said. “I will die owning the L.A. Clippers in Los Angeles.”

Ballmer has always tried to be technologically ahead of his competitors, and he feels he doesn't have the potential to do that since he and the Clippers are basically the third party at Staples Center behind the The L.A. Lakers and L.A. Kings hockey team.

“We don't own our arena, so a lot of things about fan experience — food and beverage — they're not on our list because, frankly, we get what we get from AEG, who owns Staples Center.”

Some locations that do intrigue the Clippers are on the west side of Los Angeles like Santa Monica and Westwood, both heavily populated areas as well.
