The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have some interesting decisions to make towards the back end of the season. There are plenty of things that they are going to need to avoid if they want to win an NBA title.
As we have seen with this Lakers team, they have dealt with some unfortunate injuries throughout the first half of the season and due to their age, it doesn't necessarily look like that is going to slow down because they have a bunch of players who are in the back end of their careers.
Obviously, the Lakers are going to need to go out and make some moves at the deadline because the way that their roster is currently constructed, they will not find much success in the playoffs unless LeBron James can continue playing at this high of a level. Even if he does play at this high of a level, there is a good chance that the Lakers will not beat the Golden State Warriors or the Phoenix Suns.
Let's take a look at three things the Lakers must avoid in order to win an NBA title this year.

Lakers Must Avoids 2022
3. Have to give LeBron days off
If the Lakers are going to find success this season, it's going to be because of how good LeBron James plays. He has played a bunch of minutes so far this season and that's something that the Lakers are going to need to keep in the back of their mind because if he is hurt, they can kiss their championship hopes goodbye.
Los Angeles needs to make sure that they are keeping LeBron healthy and that has to be their biggest concern going into the back end of the season. They have to avoid allowing him to play 30-plus minutes a night in games that he doesn't necessarily need to.
Article Continues Below2. Need to make moves at the deadline
The Lakers are in a decent spot right now but that's just because of how good LeBron James has been able to play recently. The reality of the situation is that he is getting older in his career and any little tweak or something else could result in an injury.
The Lakers' current roster is not good enough to win an NBA title and if they want to just like many fans and players were thinking they were going to at the beginning of the season, they're going to need to make many moves during the deadline. It's not going to be easy for them to do this because they don't necessarily have a lot of pieces that are going to be appealing to other teams. Their front office is going to need to get the job done, and if they don't, they will not find success in the playoffs
1. Westbrook has to limit his turnovers and Anthony Davis needs to be on the court
The Lakers' success towards the back end of the season and in the playoffs is going to be based on Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis to both be playing high-level basketball and on the court at all times.
Westbrook is obviously going to turn the ball over because he has been doing that his whole career. When the Lakers signed him, they knew that he was going to do that. What they cannot allow is for him to be turning the ball over 5-plus times a game. If he is going to continue turning the ball over at this high of a rate, the Lakers could find themselves in a tough position come playoff time because usually if another team can score off turnovers, they will have a lot of success in the game. If Westbrook can just keep his turnovers down, the Lakers are going to be one of the favorites to win an NBA title.
Although Anthony Davis wasn't necessarily playing as well as many Lakers fans were hoping for, he still was playing at a high level as he was averaging 23.3 points per game on 52% shooting from the field. Although Davis can certainly be putting up some better numbers and also be playing a bit more aggressively while still shooting at a higher rate from the three-point line, he still was helping this Lakers team. It's not going to be easy for LeBron James to get it done by himself with just Russell Westbrook so they're going to need to make sure that Anthony Davis is healthy. Even if he has to sit out longer in the regular season, it makes the most sense because they need him for the playoffs.
