The Utah Jazz drew first blood against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday in what should be a highly entertaining first-round series between these two sides. Donovan Mitchell dropped a game-high 32 points for the Jazz en route to surpassing the great LeBron James on the all-time scoring leaderboard for the playoffs.
Thanks to his heroics on Saturday night, Mitchell is now averaging 28.9 points per game in the postseason. That's 0.1 more than the Los Angeles Lakers superstar (h/t NBA TV on Twitter):

For some context, however, Mitchell has played in just 33 playoff games throughout his entire career. LeBron, on the other hand, has been through no less than 266 postseason battles. Quite the discrepancy, right?
Nevertheless, you can't undermine what Mitchell has been doing in the playoffs. Despite the relatively small sample size, the fact that the Jazz superstar has now joined the likes of LeBron, Kevin Durant, and the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan, on this list is a testament to just how special Mitchell truly is. Jerry West and Allen Iverson are no scrubs either.
Mitchell led the Jazz to a 99-93 Game 1 win over a Luka Doncic-less Mavs. Game 2 of this series is still going to be in Dallas and is scheduled for Monday night.
