Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis dropped 42 points to lead his team to victory against the Utah Jazz and clinch the No.1 seed in the Western Conference. After the game, Davis expressed his mindset entering the game, as well as what the milestone means to him and the Purple and Gold.

In the post-game presser after their 116-108 win, Davis shared that clinching the number seed is one of their goals. However, the seven-time All-Star acknowledged that the journey is far from over.

“It's a good feeling. Obviously we're not done, we still got a long way to go. But it's a good accomplishment for our organization,” the Lakers big man said.

Davis also shared that he and Lakers head coach Frank Vogel were in agreement he needed to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor. This may be the key reason for Davis' 42-point outburst. In fact, very early in the game, Davis was already tossing up shots as compared to the seven shots he took against the Toronto Raptors.

It's safe to say that Anthony Davis has done everything in his power to turn the Lakers into legitimate title contenders. To recall, the Purple and Gold acquired Davis via trade in the summer of 2019. They gave up a bunch of their prized assets, including Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball Josh Hart and several other picks, just to pair up AD and LeBron.

It was a tough yet necessary move, as it was clear that LeBron James needed another star in the fold and not a bunch of developing youngsters. As Davis noted, though, the job is far from over.

The ultimate quest is to win that title. With that said, clinching that number one seed is a small part of the equation for the Lakers.
