Los Angeles Lakers small forward Kyle Kuzma channeled his inner James Worthy at practice on Thursday.

Kuzma wore goggles at practice after suffering an eye abrasion on Tuesday. The Lakers swingman preferred the nickname “Big Game Kuz” as a nod to Worthy, whose nickname was “Big Game James.” He won three titles with the Lakers and was the 1988 Finals MVP:

Kuzma missed the first four games of the season for the Lakers due to injury. Since returning, he's averaging 13.1 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers have the best record in the NBA right now at 12-2.

LA really values Kuzma. After all, he was the only youngster from last year’s team to not get traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Anthony Davis deal. Kuzma’s pals Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram were sent to New Orleans for Davis.

Playing next to LeBron James and Davis, Kuzma is going to get a lot of wide-open looks from the 3-point line since LeBron and AD command so much attention when they have the ball. The Lakers would like to see Kuzma become a more efficient 3-point shooter in 2019-20.
