Is Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton already thinking about changing his starting lineup after one game? Walton said after Thursday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers it's a little early for that, but it's worth noting starting shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ran with the second unit in practice Friday, while Josh Hart played with the starters.
Caldwell-Pope scored only five points against the Blazers on 1-of-3 shooting in 27 minutes. Hart, meanwhile, notched 20 points coming off the bench. The second-year guard shot 8-of-12 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-3 from the free-throw line.
KCP is with the Lakers second unit in scrimmage today, playing alongside Kuzma, Svi, Ball, Wagner. Last night Luke Walton said “it’s a little early” to@start changing starting lineup.

Three shot attempts for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is very low for a guy who has never been shy to shoot the ball. Then again, playing alongside LeBron James does mean your shot attempts will drop since the four-time MVP is going to have the ball in his hands a lot.
Caldwell-Pope started 74 games for the Lakers last season and averaged 13.4 points. For his career, he shoots 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. One would surmise Caldwell-Pope will get a lot of good, open looks from distance this season playing with two cerebral passers in James and starting point guard Rajon Rondo.
The Lakers' next game is on Saturday when they host the Houston Rockets. It will be interesting to see if Caldwell-Pope or Hart gets the start.
