Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is adding another feather to his cap. This time, it comes in the form of the Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors award.

The award is meant to celebrate an individual or company's outstanding contribution to Los Angeles, and visionary achievement in art, sciences or television. The Lakers' official Twitter account made the announcement as they congratulated the fallen legend:

There's no denying that Bryant will go down in history as one of the greatest to ever play the sport. This latest award is just one of many that affirms the same.

However, it is also important to note that the Governors Award also recognizes Kobe's philanthropy. One of Bryant's advocacies throughout his career was his involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He had met hundreds of different kids with life-threatening illnesses in the span of no less than 20 years with the foundation. In 2007, Kobe established the VIVO Foundation, which has now been renamed as the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. The thrust of this foundation hopes to “provide young people with life-changing experiences designed to broaden their global perspectives.”

In true Kobe Bryant fashion, the Black Mamba is still making waves months after his tragic passing. The legacy he left on the basketball court is one thing, but his social work is equally important in terms of his contributions to society.
