Every storage unit treasure hunter's dream is to come across a locker that contains a fortune — thus the term “treasure hunter.” Well, that's exactly what a very lucky hunter discovered recently when he realized that the contents of his newly purchased locker were in fact the property of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
This report comes via TMZ Sports, who also detailed the contents of the abandoned storage unit:
Here's the breakdown of the score — 35 pairs of shoes, jerseys, Lakers practice gear, a Lakers all-access badge that says, “Mamba,” tax paperwork, and the pièce de résistance … a mink coat (we're told there are pics of Kobe wearing the coat!).
As it turns out, the abandoned unit belonged to Derek Roche, who was Kobe Bryant's personal stylist. It is unclear why Roche ended up abandoning the storage locker, but the new owner of this treasure could not care any less at this point.
Article Continues BelowThe buyer purchased the unit for just $375, and his investment was multiplied by more than 30 times when he decided to sell the contents to “Storage Wars” veteran Rene Nezhoda for a whopping $13,000. Quite a turnaround, right?
The inventory has yet to be properly authenticated, and the total value of the haul remains to be seen. However, it does seem that once they auction these items off, this should be worth well over the $13,000 price tag.
Talk about blind luck. Perhaps this was Kobe Bryant's gift from up above to the extremely lucky buyer.
