The Los Angeles Lakers are out of answers, and Kyle Kuzma wishes he inhabited a different reality. How will the Lakers be able to make the playoffs after losing 118-109 against the Western Conference's worst team, the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night? Kuzma, a second-year forward, summed up the Lakers' situation in a brief statement.

The Lakers badly needed the win against the Suns, who were losers of nine of their last 10 games. Still, Los Angeles was unable to take advantage of a game against another non-playoff opponent. The Lakers allowed themselves to be beaten once again by one of the league's worst teams. The Knicks, the Cavs, and the Suns have all beaten L.A. this season. That's why Kyle Kuzma and the Lakers are in such a tough spot.

With a record of 30-33, the Lakers are now five games behind the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers for the seventh and eighth spots in the Western Conference playoffs; both teams have won 35 games.

The Lakers are in danger of missing the playoffs for the sixth straight year.

With 19 games left, Los Angeles has very little chance of making the playoffs. Aside from winning most of their remaining 19 games, the Lakers will also need the Spurs and the Clippers to produce losing streaks that will put them out of the playoff picture.

Whatever is wrong with the Lakers, they need to address it now. The frustrations in the city of Los Angeles continue to grow, and the fans are getting tired of losing. So is Kuzma.

Something needs to be done as soon as possible.
