Despite all the turmoil surrounding LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers these days, The King told reporters on Wednesday after practice the team actually likes where they are at.
Where the Lakers are in the Western Conference standings is not a place James is accustomed to being. Entering Wednesday, Los Angeles is 29-31 on the season, 11th place in the West and three games back of the San Antonio Spurs for the eighth and and final playoff spot.
The Lakers are coming off two bad losses, one to the New Orleans Pelicans, who were playing without Anthony Davis, and the other to the Memphis Grizzlies, a team which has one of the worst records in the NBA.
Article Continues BelowThere has been a lot of negativity and criticism being sent LeBron James' way for his recent comments and lack of defense, but the four-time MVP knows he has to remain positive for his teammates.
“We like where we are,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “I like where we are today. For those guys, I think we try to prepare every day. And we do prepare. Not try. We prepare every day for our next challenge and we did that today. And I love the positive mindset that we have, even with the struggle that we've had the last 10 games.”
“I like where we are as a ball club today with our mindset and hopefully going forward.”
The Lakers host the Pelicans on Wednesday and will look to snap a two-game losing streak.
