Though LeBron James now has a hand in assembling a championship team with the Los Angeles Lakers, he still remains respectful of what the top executives have built over the past few years.

Speaking with Rachel Nichols of ESPN, James was asked about his thoughts on Kawhi Leonard possibly joining the purple and gold at the expense of the team's young core, and why he didn't ask the front office to make that happen.

James said that he's not going to intrude in the Lakers' front office and their decisions. Instead, he trusts them fully, knowing that just like him, they want to bring another title to their city:

“Because I love the young guys that they have, and I'm not trying to force my hand in no way, shape or form. I believe Rob [Pelinka] and Magic [Johnson] and Jeanie [Buss] have done an unbelievable job of reshaping what the organization should be, keeping Dr. Buss' dreams and what he was all about, to keep that going. I feel like they know what's best for the team and I wanted to be a piece to continue that motion of being back to a championship franchise where they should be.”

This statement reveals a lot about James. Every season that he doesn't win a ring is a disappointment. He is aware of this but he seems to value his relationship with his new organization more than anything.

Besides, getting to that championship ring takes time. They may not get Leonard or any superstar this season. But James and the Lakers are just getting started. They might be hiding something up their sleeves, waiting for the perfect time to unravel it.
