Any team with LeBron James on its roster can expect big things. As for the four-time league MVP himself, he’s looking forward to the Los Angeles Lakers playing a brand of basketball that’s less defined by positions, per Joey Ramirez of NBA.com.
“We want to be a positionless team,” LeBron James said at Saturday’s practice. “There’s gonna be times when we’re all playing different positions. I think that’s going to be the benefit of our ball club.”
There is arguably be no player in the history of the NBA more experienced in covering multiple positions than LeBron James, who’s always been tasked to do it all on the floor for his team. Back in the 2016 NBA Finals, James famously covered every position to help the Cleveland Cavaliers pull off a miraculous come-from-behind series victory against the Golden State Warriors.
At 6-foot-8, James has the ideal size for a small forward, but his bulk and strength also allows him to play the power forward slot. Of course, James’ blend of basketball smarts, mobility, and an exceptional general feel for the game make him a fantastic backcourt piece. With the Lakers, he could occupy the center position whenever the team wants to speed up the game.

“We have a lot of guys that can play multiple positions,” James said. “It’s going to work well for our team. It’s good. We just have to help rebound.”
Last season, James posted averages of 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.1 assists in 82 games for the Cavs.
