LeBron James proved once again that he is more than just an athlete. On Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers cornerstone superstar made his way to the AT&T center in San Antonio for their match against the Spurs dawning a Beto O'Rourke hat.

This is LeBron James publicly endorsing Democratic Senate candidate O'Rourke who is vying against the heavy-favorite incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz for the Senate seat for the state of Texas.

LeBron James has been very active in the socio-political scene throughout his career. However, he has been in hot waters recently with his highly-publicized spat against U.S. President Donald Trump. LeBron has never been shy to make his feelings known, and he has been a staunch critic of the Republican President.

Most recently, James produced a documentary series titled Shut Up and Dribble — a phrase that caught on stemming from one of Trump's demeaning comments towards LeBron — that highlights the role the NBA and its players have had in influencing the socio-political scene in the nation. The Showtime series is set to air in November.

While he may be the best player in the planet today, LeBron James is certainly not allowing himself to be confined by the four corners of the basketball court. He understands his responsibility to the country as one of the most influential figures in pop culture today, and he is certainly putting that to good use.
